More than 200 residents joined us on 12th May 2017 to celebrate World Water Day at Khoo Teck Puat Hospital. Residents watched videos on how Singapore has diversified its water supply, but everyone still needs to play their part and “Make Every Drop Count”.
Grassroots Adviser, Er. Dr. Lee Bee Wah was then invited on stage to launch this year’s World Water Day. In conjunction with World Water Day, 51 Nee Soon South households received prizes for their efforts in saving water. These households had entered last year’s Nee Soon South Water Saving Contest, and saved the most water compared to the national average for their house type. Grassroots Adviser Er. Dr. Lee said, “As Singapore is small and relies on external sources for water, everyone has a part to play in conserving and treasuring water. I hope that the winning households will continue to develop good habits in water saving and also to encourage more residents to do likewise. Together, we can make Singapore Clean, Blue and Green.”
After the sharing, participants picked up litter around Yishun Pond, further reinforcing the importance and beauty of our water bodies.
